Scripture reminds us that we have to prepare so that the glory of the Lord may appear to us.

[Lev 9:6 ESV]
And Moses said, “This is the thing that the LORD commanded you to do, that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”

Taking the necessary steps are very important. The scriptures also say:

[Lev 9:23-24 ESV] 23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24 And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

Those steps, which had to do with the sacrifices and their preparation, were necessary to prepare the people to perceive the glory of the Lord. In other words, without the right kind of preparation, the people would be unable to have their understanding of the glory.

Here, the glory of the Lord is personified by the fire going out and consuming. But, what happens when you are not prepared for the glory of the Lord? What happens when we act like we want it, but have not made necessary preparation?

A few verses later it says: [Lev 10:2 ESV] 2 And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. [Lev 10:3 ESV] 3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.'” And Aaron held his peace.

True, we have Yeshua as our sacrifice. This is a sacrifice that brings us near to God. But, then when He is near to us do we sanctify Him? The right steps of preparation and obedience make our hearts ready. Just as Yeshua reminds us, what comes out of hearts will demonstrate whether we are prepared. [Mat 15:19 ESV] 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

Are we prepared to perceive the glory of the Lord? If not, take this opportunity to ask the Lord what steps you need to take to prepare for His glory, sanctify Him and be ready to perceive Him and what He has for you.
